Requirements:

This application required unwinding and precisely cutting pieces of coated material in roll form.

Material: 4.5″ – 5″ wide roll of coated material.

Our Solution:

AZCO Corp. designed and manufactured a custom cut-to-length station with a dual unwind assembly, a vacuum index station, and a takeaway conveyor.

  • The roll of material is loaded onto one of two cantilever unwinds.
  • From the unwind, the material goes under a dancer assembly.
  • Low product sensors monitor the roll diameter.
  • When the roll reaches a predetermined diameter, the machine flashes a yellow indicator on the light tower signaling low material limit.
  • A vacuum conveyor precisely indexes the material.
  • This station is used for additional processes being added to the material such as laminating, printing, coating, and for adding other components.
  • The cut-to-length station cuts the product into precise pieces.
  • Once the pieces have been cut, they will drop out of an exit chute and onto a takeaway conveyor.
  • All components are precision mounted to a common baseplate and frame.
