This application required precisely cutting and unwinding rolls of flexible tubing into various lengths with the addition of a particulate removal system.
Our Solution:
AZCO Corp. designed and manufactured an automatic benchtop tubing cutter with a vacuum particle system and horizontal unwind that is ideal for precisely cutting flexible tubing up to 1” [25mm] in diameter.
Material is loaded onto the horizontal unwind.
The unwind is spec’d to accept variable spool sizes.
The core shaft and vertical fingers will hold the material spool.
Vertical fingers can be adjusted and tension loaded.
Drive motor contains a consistent loop of material.
Loop will feedback to the motor control and consistent tension.
Rocker switch allows the unit to change direction for easy setup and versatility.
Unwind will handle a material spool with a maximum OD of 590mm [23”], an ID range of 150mm [7.09”] to 345mm [13.58”] weighing less than 16kg [36.37 lbs].
Tubing is fed through the infeed guide.
Material is then pulled into the dual drive tractor belt system.
Belts are turned by a high accuracy, low maintenance indexing motor.
The upper belt is pre-loaded for good contact which increase accuracy.
Material guides can fit tubing up to 1” in diameter and can be easily interchanged.
Knife is contained in clear safety guarding.
Blades are stainless steel.
The unit has a touchscreen display for easy setup and operation.
Unit also has a vacuum particle system to remove any excess debris.
Custom cut lengths and cycles can be input on the unit’s touchscreen.

This system cuts a diagnostic sheet into individual pieces.
AZCO’S test strip cutter is an automated two step system. The sheet is placed onto an in-feed station from where the motor actuator will move it into the first cutting station. This station will cut the sheet into individual cards. The cutting station has rotary shear cut blades driven by a variable speed motor. The edge trim and the areas between the strips go into a scrap bin below.
The individual cards will go over driven rollers which will help guide the cards onto a shingled table. At the end of the table the cards will hit a physical stop. With the cards on the shingled table, the table will lower. In the lowered position, conveyor belts will index the cards into the second cutting station. The index conveyor will have flights which will push the cards into the next station. A motor drive will power the conveyor. Optic eye registration sensor will index the conveyor to the correct location in order to align with the next station. An optic eye will look for any reject marks on the white portion of the card. If a reject mark is found the card indexes to the reject station. A nip roller station will close on the card and reject the card from the conveyor. A plastic reject bin will be used to collect the rejected cards.
As the cards continue down the conveyor they will be indexed into the side registration position. An electric actuator with a pusher will look at the strip and move the card into the correct side position. Once in position a pusher assembly will move the card into the second cutting station. The second cutting station will cut the cards into 6mm strips. The strips will go onto an out feed tray. Once on the out feed tray a side guide will move all the pieces into a collection area.

A clear lexan access door guard can be opened to feed tubing into the material guides.
A dual driver tractor belt system indexes the material.
Cycle counts and cut lengths can be input on the unit’s color touch screen.
The unit then cuts material precisely to length.
Cut material drops down the exit chute.
Material guides to not require any tools and can be interchanged up to 50mm in diameter.
This system is offered as a stand alone table top unit, or it can be a slave to your process. The tubing is indexed by a servo motor with dual drive tractor belt system for high accuracy. Easy operation is accomplished with a touch screen; simply enter the length, number of pieces, and press START.
