Requirements:

This application required precisely cutting bandoliered spice packets from a roll form into individual pieces.

Material:

A roll of bandoliered spice packets with a width of 2.75” and length of 3.25”.

Material Width: 2.75 W x 3.25 L | Less than 140mm [5.5”]

Material Thickness: Less than 19mm [0.75”]

Our Solution:

AZCO Corp. designed and manufactured a pouch dispenser with power assist and a color touch screen display to precisely cut individual spice packets from a bandoliered roll.

  • The unwind assembly will be completely replaced by the Power Assist Assembly.
  • Material is threaded through the power assist feeder and into a set of upper and lower belts creating a tractor feed.
  • Material will then be pulled out from the box by the power assist over a dancer assembly.
  • The upper belt will be pneumatically pre-loaded.
  • Pressure between the belts is precisely set with a gauge to indicate belt tension.
  • Both belts are turned by a high accuracy and low maintenance servo motor.
  • Unit includes precision ground ball bearings that do not require any lubrication.
  • An internal guide directs the material from the drive belt into the knife assembly.
  • Material is then pulled into the knife assembly.
  • The waffled traction belts improve accuracy at a higher cycle speed.
  • Modular knife cartridge and quickly be changed out within minutes.
  • The pneumatic knife assembly includes D-2 Heat Treated Tool Steel blades with a food grade coating for extended life.
  • Material is then cut by the D-2 Tool Steel blade and falls down the exit chute.
  • The exit chute is mounted to the unit and is designed for quick change overs.
  • The unit’s components will have a stainless-steel cover and a clear anodized finish.
  • Unit has a color touch screen for easy setup and operations.
  • Custom cycles and counts can be input on the unit’s touch screen.
  • The unwind assembly will be replaced completely by the Power Assist Assembly.
